Implementation of Common Core in Indiana

It looks like the newly elected Sec. of Education is in support of legislation that would "pause" the implementation of Common Core Standards in Indiana schools and open the topic up for "comprehensive and full" public feedback.

This could potentially mean, nearly 2 1/2 years of implementation momentum would be abruptly halted. 

Someone, please tell me, there is NO Politics involved (current Sec is Democrat; the defeated one is Republican).
